Mycelial Writing

Seminar Room, Fitzwilliam Museum, CAMBRIDGE

APRIL 2nd 2025

2pm-3pm,

In 2024, the Corporeal Writing collective launched Mushroom School, aiming to expand, explode and unfold creative writing practice via mycelial thinking, including emergent,

collaborative practices of learning and unlearning. Their foundational principles include the proposition that “exploring alternative narrative forms is a type of sacred bad-ass spelunking into new dimensions of time, space, language, and beyond…Binary systems of meaning-making are in dire need of a particle-wave shiver / erotic explosion into expansive pluralities.”

Enspored and inspired by Mushroom School, we propose a workshop on Mycelial Writing. In this hands-on session we will explore various creative practices rooted in the weird, queer and entangled fungal Queendom, including:

- Composting literary leaf-litter and de/re-composing texts

- Collaborative interactions inspired by the holobiont lifeworlds of lichen

- Tracing hyphal networks within and between writings to generate new narrative forms

In this playful and experimental space, we will explore how fungal thinking might challenge, transform and invite ways of ‘staying with the trouble’ within our creative practices.  this workshop is for writers with any level of experience or none.
